Boundaries Are a Longevity Tool
Kelley Butler · The Journal
The most underrated longevity tool isn't a supplement. It's the word no.
We talk endlessly about what to add. More routines, more products, more protocols. We almost never talk about what to remove. And honestly, learning to protect my energy has done more for my wellbeing than anything I could buy.
Chronic stress shows up on your face and in your body. It ages you. So the boundaries you set, the things and people you stop saying yes to out of guilt, are not selfish. They are a form of self-respect, and they are quietly one of the best things you can do for your long-term health.
My philosophy is simple. Live healthy, but don't deprive yourself of anything. Moderation is everything. So will I have a glass of wine or champagne? Absolutely. The goal was never a perfect, joyless life. The goal is a full one, lived on my terms.
Boundaries are what make that possible. They protect the room for the things that actually matter.
Start small. Say no to one thing this week that you'd normally agree to out of obligation. Notice how it feels.
