The 5-Minute Reset That Changed My Mornings
Kelley Butler · The Journal
Before the coffee, before the phone, before the noise. I take five minutes that are just mine.
Mornings are my favorite and most productive hours, and I guard the start of them. Not with anything complicated. No incense required. Just a short, simple practice that sets the tone for everything that follows.
Here is what it actually looks like:
A few lines in my journal to get whatever's swirling out of my head and onto the page.
A few quiet minutes of meditation, even if my mind won't fully cooperate.
And a mantra, something steady I come back to, to remind myself who I am before the world tells me who to be.
That's it. Five minutes, maybe ten. The difference between days I do it and days I skip it is night and day.
This is the part of wellness nobody can sell you, and the part that holds everything else together. You can have the best skin and the best supplements and still feel frazzled. Presence is the thing that makes the rest of it feel good.
If you've never done it, start tomorrow. Three lines in a journal and three slow breaths. That's the whole entry point.
xo, Kelley
